Getting Ready For the Holidays-Make a Plan

Published by writermommy6 at 11:33 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Everyone is going crazy this holiday season. Of course this happens a lot but this year some people are falling on hard times. Our jobs as homemakers are to make things more peaceful and calm for our families.

Before I start planning I like to grab a cup of coffee (hot chocolate works too) and turn on some Christmas music to get me in the mood.

Take the time now to get out your calendar and write down all of your school, church, and family commitments over the next few weeks. Now pencil in time to clean the house. Do you have a menu planned out? It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. (I’ll go into this more tomorrow.) Are there any special traditions that you do with your kids or any you’d like to start? Set aside time for them. If your decorations aren’t up then write down a time for that. Any gifts that you haven’t bought? Write down what you need to get and when you plan on shopping for them. Always allow more time for things then you’ll think you need. Traffic may be bad, the lines in the stores may be long, the decorations may be a big jumbled mess waiting to be untangled. If you allow for more time then you’ll be less stressed and a less stressed mom makes for less stressed kids.

Keep in mind when your kids get out of school when you are scheduling these things. Also come up with ideas to entertain the kids after the holidays. We have a whole week and  half after Christmas out of school so I’m planning activities to keep then busy. Some moms go a little stir crazy when the kids are out for so long. A good way to keep this from happening is to schedule your day and limit video game and tv time. Keep them busy with activities they can do together and apart. (More later)
